Milk/Juice Carton Fun

Since our upcoming project deals with the adaptive reuse of milk/juice cartons, I thought I'd upload a project I completed with two other lovely ladies for our Human Factors class.  Perhaps this can help stem our project.

The objective of the project was to design a chair prototype that will accommodate the user's (me) sitting posture.  Not only did the chair have to meet my body's ergonomic standard, the design has to portray me as an individual.  Well, since I'm big into reusing objects/materials and organic produce, my team decided to collage our chair out of discarded milk/juice cartons.

Yes, this basically means that our chair is composed out of paper.  We utilized the basic shape of the carton, and reconstructed each of the 80+ cartons used into a triangular prism, strong enough to hold two people!

It was quite a successful experiment!  And tremendous thanks to Bender's Cafe who helped us salvage these cartons!
